I’ve been planning to show this desk for a few years now, as it’s one of my all-time favorite products at Relax the Back Store. Hopefully you can tell its superior form and function, but I’d like to particularly mention the quality of the wood. It is absolutely phenomenal: the way it feels as well as how solid it is. (Base supports up to 250 lbs.) Shown here is the Maple finish, but there’s also a Cherry and Espresso option. Comes in three sizes as well, this being the small one. Small (47″W x 36″D), Medium (63″W x 39″D), Large (75″W x 40″D). Made in Denmark by a company called Jesper. Also known as a Sit-Stand or Stand Up desk, the Jesper height-adjustable desk features a motorized desktop that silently transitions from seated to standing positions with a press of a button. Sit Stand desks are recommended by many health care professionals to help increase energy, alleviate back pain, ease joint stiffness and solve other work related discomforts. Sitting for hours on end can be stressful on the spine, as well as lead to feelings of lethargy and fatigue. Many people also report greater core strength after trying one of these. But besides comfort, the Stand Up Desk is convenient. It adjusts smoothly on the brushed steel base, going quickly and quietly from a low of 25″ to a high of 52″, allowing you great flexibility in your work habits. At the push of a button, it converts from a regular sit-down desk to one that lets you to stand tall. Want one? Visit my site www

Diagnosing SI Joint Disorders- Provocative Testing

Learn more about the sacroiliac joint at www.si-bone.com In a classic study, over 22% of patients with low back pain were found to have the SI joint and SI joint dysfunction as either the primary source of pain or a component of their low back pain. Based on very rigorously reviewed research there are five provocation tests that are used to commonly diagnose SI joint disorders. These five tests, when used in combination, can be very accurate, both sensitive and specific, when giving information about the potential effectiveness of an injection into the joint. The SI joint should be considered a potential pain generator and option for treatment in every case with low back pain. The diagnosis of SI joint disorders or at least the provocation tests should be included in every patient when they come in the door. Exercises for Posture Improvement

Bob Bader, NSCA- CPT demonstrates various exercises that will help improve posture, particularly the rounding of the shoulders that occurs when a lot of time is spent in front of the computer. Serratus anterior is a muscle that originates on the surface of the upper eight or nine ribs at the side of the chest and inserts along the entire anterior length of the medial border of the scapula. Function The serratus anterior is occasionally called the “boxer’s muscle” because it is largely responsible for the protraction of the scapula—that is, the pulling of the scapula forward and around the rib cage that occurs when someone throws a punch. The serratus anterior also helps to stabilize the scapula. In addition, it assists in rotating the scapula (glenoid fossa) upward. Comments: The serratus anterior holds the scapula against the thoracic wall. A winged scapula condition indicates a weakness of the serratus anterior. Scapular Exercises covered: -Scapular Pushup -Cable Face Pull -DB Front Raise to Overhead Lift -Cable Sarratus Pulse -Cable Row Stretches Covered: ** Important: Avoid stretches that protract (curl forward) the shoulders. Ie: Stretching the rear deltoids (shoulder). The primary focus is to stretch the front side of the body.
